The pub is owned and operated by Fergus O’Flaherty who leads the session playing both box (button accordion) and banjo. I have on occasion heard him play tin whistle,
low whistle, mandola, guitar and fiddle.
Here is a recent session with myself on the left with Fergus centre and Tommy Lynch on the box. Fergus' sister Mazz, who runs the local music shop, drops in sometimes to sing a few songs. Other regulars at O’Flaherty’s are Maidhc Dainín Ó Sé on box, Mark Crickard on fiddle, Gus Cero on guitar, Eric Marini on bodhrán and Cillian O’ Briain on uilleann pipes with his wife Bríd on Irish timber flute. Cillian is also a well known uilleann pipe maker.
Fergus also heads up the Green and Gold Wren, playing the fife himself. The band plays and marches through the town on Wren Day, December 26th. This group also makes up a substantial part of the Dingle/An Daingean fife and drum band that plays for various events during the year.Started in 1846, the pub still has the original flagstones on the floor brought in from Valentia Island. The walls are covered by old posters and photographs depicting the history of Ireland starting in the 18th century with the Gratton Parliament and ending with a facsimile of the Belfast agreement. Flaherty’s is also a GAA hub and this is reflected by the many photos of the teams and personalities of the local GAA clubs.

We will be visiting in the Dingle area for 9 days in February. I, Ron Quimby, am 64, my wife, Dona, is 60 and her sister Ann is 58.
My wife is a flute player and plans to bring her flute with her. I am also planning on giving her a class at the dingle school of music on the tin wistle.
We are very interested in finding live music while we are there. We will be staying in a cottage at Kilmarkidar.
Please let me know if you with be involved in any sessions from Feb 17 to 26th.

One of the best resources for the Dingle music scene is the Dingle Record Shop on Green Street. You will find a link to their website by clicking on “Mazz” on this post about O’Flaherty’s. You need to understand that many of the music sessions are impromptu so that you need to contact someone who is in touch; Mazz knows what is going on.

I took a look at your Tigín Bán Gallery. Great photos of Dingle! The photo of Dingle Harbour #22taken in 1984 with the old boat wreck shows a piece of our house on the left-also a wreck at the time. The photo "Dingle Street" #26 shows Nells on the left which is now Murphys Ice Cream run by my two sons.
